Seafair's response to the war in Ukraine

We stand by Ukraine and are incredibly saddened by the pain that the people in Ukraine are experiencing, be it seafarers or not. It is our responsibility to stand with our community.

From the outset of this crisis, we focused first on doing all we could to protect and support our local team, our seafarers, and their families in Ukraine. We are working closely with our partnered shipping companies to offer financial, accommodation, logistics, and legal support. We are also operating a 24/7 Whatsapp hotline for our extended seafarer community, which we are monitoring and evaluating to see if there’s more we can do to.

However, the ones in need are beyond our own community. Therefore, we are donating $5000 to Sunflower of Peace to provide medical and humanitarian aid that will be used by paramedics and doctors. The organization acquires and distributes first-aid backpacks, designed for the second level of medical care in terms of combat action has the ability to save up to 10 lives: Ukrainian soldiers, civilians, volunteers, and children.

We are also running our Resources for UA initiatives, detailed in this post. The document aggregates important information such as border updates (including link to a telegram bot for updates), transportation and accommodation support, visa and asylum options by different countries, and other support groups that are useful universally to everyone in Ukraine. We are welcoming suggestions and inputs via info@seafair.io. Sources of information are all linked.

We are actively working on more long-term initiatives such as recurring donations and programs to safeguard the homes of our maritime community. Meanwhile, we are continuing our other international operations to support the maritime industry, ensuring that goods are delivered to people all over the world safely and on time.

Together, we are stronger. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who are suffering from all this turbulence. We stand with Ukraine and its people.
